The Best Robot Vacuum and Mop Combo

The Q Revo is a great choice if you are looking for a robotic vacuum and mop that's middle-of-the-road. It's a great mopping capability, but it lacks certain of the more advanced features found in its more expensive counterpart.

During testing it was able to handle dust and dry oats on carpets with medium piles and pet hair on hard floors. But, unlike cheaper models, it doesn't employ LIDAR to map out your home.

The iRobot Roomba S9+ is one of the most highly-rated robot vacuums. It has impressive cleaning power and plenty of features that include an automatic dirt bin built into its charging base. It's not the best time with high-pile or plush carpet, but iRobot promises it will get better in the future with new models.

The S9+ features a new design from iRobot that concentrates on enhancing corner and edge cleaning. It's the very first Roomba that has flat-fronted D-shaped designs. The company hopes this will allow it hug furniture and walls. It's a significant improvement over hockey puck-shaped robovacs which are standard, but we found it to be just marginally better than circular models.

iRobot claims that the S9+ also comes with an advanced filtration system, which prevents microscopic particles and allergens recirculating within your home. We think it's a nice claim however, it's not enough to justify a premium price.

Its smart navigation system uses sensors that remember your home's layout and vSLAM technology for mapping the interior. This allows it to stay clear of obstacles, like stairs and other barriers, and to clean up your entire house in the most efficient way possible. The dust tank on the robo-vac is larger than its competitors. Filling it up only takes two or three cycles, even when you have maximum dirt.

As for the mopping device, I was amazed by its ability to scrub hard-to-clean dirt from my floors. Its two mopping modes at the lowest that are less aggressive than the higher-powered ones produce very little noise, which allows you to work or even watch TV without interruption. If it comes across the wall or a piece of furniture, it gently bumps into it and then moves forward.

This feature is beneficial if you have different flooring in different areas of your home, or in the event that you have to regularly get rid of clutter like toys, clothes and books. The robo-vac is also very efficient and was one of the top performers in my tests, picking up debris from both carpets and hardwood floors in the first attempt. It is able to even vacuum up wet spills however I would recommend drying them with a damp cloth prior to sending the robot in.
